We as you already know that Pyro Chris' life was influenced by D&D. It invariably got me in trouble more times than I can even remember. Once while playing D&D we questioned the effectiveness of a sling as a weapon. Unfortunately my curiosity spawned a question: Just how well does a sling (ie:David and Goliath) work?
So my brain began try to fit together a plan to make a sling. I used a small dowel rod, some nylon cord, and some nylon netting from a LaCrosse stick. The overall length when ready to fire was a yard. It was then swung around twice parallel to your body and released at the bottom of the second swing. Trust me it was not this easy at first, there was allot of experimentation. This took place behind my friend's house near a construction site. So armed with a large supply of rocks and your new slings we started swinging. Many misfires, and bad throws latter we had come to the conclusion that in the right hands that they would work with extreme accuracy and efficiency. However we both had left hands. This was proved by the construction site after we stopped. Apparently there were alot of broken windows in buildings and the trailers the contractors used as their offices. The trailers looked like they had spent to much time at the wrong end of a firing range or had been caught in God's own hail storm.
Discovering this we returned to the basement content with the knowledge that a sling was a good weapon, and that it was also a valuable tool for vandalism. The latter being much more important to know.
