A Psalm to Oral Contraceptives
by Deborah Ellington
- The pill is my contraceptive; I shall not conceive.
- It makes my breasts bloat, and my hips swell.
- Yea, though I fuck my boyfriend, I fear no baby, for the pill is in me; its progestin and estrogen, they comfort me.
- 21 green and 7 brown are spread before me; my menstruel flow is scanty and swift.
- Carefree sterility shall follow me, all of the days of this month.
- And I shall fornicate yet not procreate forever.
